The Union Cabinet approved Rs 1.39 lakh crore for modernising the BharatNet project which involves changing its execution strategy and providing fiber connections to the last mile through Village Level Entrepreneurs. Just like private telcos, which involve local cable operators to provide fixed home broadband services, the government, under the revamped model, will involve village level entrepreneurs or Udyamis to take the fiber connections to the homes on a 50:50 revenue-sharing basis. Fiber broadband in India has been gaining significant attention and traction over the past few years due to its potential to revolutionize internet connectivity in the country. Demand for fiber is shifting to new regions and much of this demand will be seen in the form of fiber to the home (FTTH) but there is also significant demand from mobile network operators (MNOs) as they deploy 5G and need next generation fiber in their transport networks to carry the expected surge in data traffic. As the momentum towards 5G networks and new hybrid usage models push operators towards increasingly distributed network architectures, service providers are investing in fiber to build out and upgrade their existing networks. Acknowledging the Indian Government initiatives to ensure nationwide internet connectivity particularly in rural areas through Fiberisation, Bharat Exhibitions is pleased to presents the Broadband India Summit 2023 scheduled to take place on 5th October 2023 at Hotel Shangri-La New Delhi.
Broadband India Summit 2023 is a prominent event that brings together industry experts, stakeholders, policymakers, technology providers, and business leaders to discuss and explore the latest trends, developments, challenges, and opportunities related to fiber-optic broadband deployment and its impact on various sectors. The summit will discuss the importance of fiber optics development for digital economic transformation, Rural Broadband Connectivity, GPON optical line terminals, Next-Generation Fiber Networks, Business Models for Fiber ISPs, Regulatory Challenges and Solutions, Global Trends in Fiber Deployment, Blockchain and Fiber Security, Future-Proofing Connectivity: Fiber and 5G Synergy, Fiber Network Monetization Strategies, 5G, Satellites, and Future Networks and discuss ways to speed up the fiber infrastructure coverage, quality of fibre laid, boost ICT digital services and business. The summit also intends to inform the public and the industry alike about the importance of FTTH in enhancing India’s digital economy and the necessity of speeding up fiber rollouts and adoption.
