The Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs' Smart Cities Mission is launching a "DataSmart Cities" strategy to take advantage of data's potential to solve difficult urban problems. The growth of a data-driven governance culture in smart cities would be the main focus of the DataSmart Cities initiative. The sources and volume of data generated in cities are growing daily due to the use of IoT devices, sensors, and other tools and ways to "sense" the city. Cities that have adopted a culture of data awareness and usage into their daily operations are considered to be "DataSmart Cities."
